How
You Can Help
In
2000, 3 million referrals concerning the maltreatment of children
were made to Child Protective Agencies in the United States. Of
this number, 879,000 were found to have been victims of child abuse
and neglect. Over 5,000 children are in foster care in our country.
The
problem of abuse is everyone's problem. Children deserve the right
to grow up free from abuse and neglect and every child deserves
to be in a safe, loving home.
The
problem of child maltreatment can seem overwhelming but at c.a.r.e.
we are breaking the cycle one child and one family at a time. However,
we can not do it without your help. YOU can help us break the cycle
of abuse. Here's how:
- Volunteer
at our agency. Do you have a specific skill such as working with
children, fundraising, graphic art or computer knowledge? We have
many different types of volunteer opportunities available.
- Give
a financial donation. c.a.r.e. is a non-profit organization. We
rely on grants and donations to continue our work against child
abuse. Your donation is tax deductible.
- Sponsor
a fundraising event. Having a birthday but don't need anymore
presents? Have fun, throw a party and have your guests bring donations
for c.a.r.e. instead.
- Make
a material donation. c.a.r.e. is always in need of items ranging
from computers to copy paper. (View our wish list)
- Be
a friend to a parent in need. Do you know a parent who is struggling?
Provide babysitting to give them some respite, become their friend,
and/or have them contact us about parenting classes.
- Watch
over the children in your neighborhood. Remember, "It takes
a village to raise a child".
- Give
food, clothing or toys to you local non-profit agencies. Contact
your local United Way for organizations that may be in need.
